I love this - should have invested years' ago. It is heavy, but this means it doesn't move across the counter when in use. Every part of it seems strong and substantial, except the silly plastic flour adder piece that sits on top - this doesn't even fit properly. I have always wanted a kitchen aid mixer, but thought they were
expensive. After careful consideration, and research, the Artisan mixer was what I wanted, and Amazon.com had the best price ANYWHERE! I was thrilled with the mixer, and feel it was money well spent.

After using cheap hand mixers for years I finally decided to get off the wallet and buy something that would last more than a couple of years and at the same time make life in the kitchen a lot easier. I've had my eye on a KitchenAid mixer to complement the kitchen in my new home for almost 2 years now. I finally said enough is enough and bought the Onyx Black, Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer.
Immediately, chocolate chip cookies were not only easier to make, but tasted better. Ditto for a few of the bread recipes I've tried in the past. Great mashed potatos followed by a killer Belgian waffle batter were next and I continue to look for recipes of foods I never dared try in the past.
This mixer has the guts and power that make any recipe a snap. I don't think there is a chore out there that this mixer couldn't stand up to. One thing that surprised me was how quiet this mixer is even when running on the higher settings.
Cleanup is easy too. A quick wipe down with a damp towel is all that's needed. The attatchments and 5 quart bowl are dishwasher safe if you don't feel like cleaning by hand.
As stated in other reviews, this KitchenAid is no lightweight at 20+ pounds so find a permanent spot for it in a prominent area of your kitchen. In my case, the island in the middle of the kitchen was a no brainer and brings instant compliments when company arrives.
For those who are considering buying a stand mixer, there is no other choice. Buy the KitchenAid and you can't go wrong. | 5 | Today | BAD EXPERIENCE

I finally got my wife one of these mixers that she's been asking for. But the problem is, is that I don't know who uses it more! This mixer is absolutely wonderful. If I had to choose between a coffee maker and this mixer, the coffee maker would be on it's way out. From pizza dough to cookies, cakes to ice cream, this thing does it all! I had wanted one of these for a long time, but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. Finally around the holidays last year I saw that the model and color I wanted were on sale so with my Christmas bonus I treated myself to it. I was originally worried that I might not use it enough to warrant me spending so much, but I was completely wrong. I have used the mixer for so many items and not just baked goods. I am now looking forward to purchasing some attachments KitchenAid FPPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand Mixers to expand what it is capable of doing. I'm one that doesn't keep it on the counter, but I do keep it in a easily accessible cupboard with a sliding tray so that I can pull it out at a moments notice.
